The 9 Principles
1. |
America Is Good. As Moms we will get our message further with simple questions that demand answers. Derogatory discussions and posts, defamatory graphic portrayals of our president, etc. do not serve to create a positive atmosphere. |
2. |
I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life. All members agree to at least 7 of the 9 principles. This principle does not define who that God is, nor does a person need to believe in God to be a member in good standing. We do not presume to define God, nor is this site the appropriate place to proselytize. Bigotry, hate speech, and criticizing another’s beliefs or views of God are not in harmony with the principles.. |
3. |
I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday. Copyright. We expect all members to abide by the U.S. copyright laws. Please site all references and fact check http://www.asamom.org/profiles/blogs/fact-checking-and-research your sources. Plagiarism is grounds for banning without warning. |

The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government. Please remember in posting that sometimes little eyes may be watching. |
5. |
If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it. Questionable Actions and Content. The conduct guidelines are not designed to cover every scenario. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable. The AsAMom.org website is staffed by volunteers and funded primarily by private donations. We thank all who contribute in any way. |
8. |
It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion. However, civility and good manners never go out of style. Mom always said, “if you can’t say something nice….” Use of profanity, abusive language, personal attacks, lewd or profane language/graphics, or militancy against government officials or others, shall result in a warning or removal from site access as deemed necessary after review. If in doubt ask yourself “Would I want my children or my grandmother to see or read this?” Gripe up not out. Please bring potential problems to an administrator’s attention. Allow site administration the opportunity to deal with the issue in private first. First Amendment and PC. AAM encourages thought-provoking discussion, calls for productive, positive action, and realistic solutions for our nation. The first amendment covers your right to speak out against the government. AAM is a private membership organization and we have rules of conduct. If you don’t agree with them you may have a right to speak out, but not necessarily the privilege of doing so within the confines of the site. There is a difference between being politically correct (PC) and being polite. We expect our members to follow our mission statement and “stand as Moms boldly, proudly and dignified.” |
9. |
The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me. Politics and Endorsements: As A Mom is about principles, not parties. AAM does not endorse any political candidates nor will we conduct fund-raising activities for them. While we do not endorse political figures, members are free to discuss potential candidates and their platforms within the forums, chat and blogs. Any events and/or actions that AAM chooses to endorse and/or support will be clearly shown in main page links, not in discussions, forums, blogs, or chats. |
May you reflect the 12 values :

Hard Work, Courage, Personal Responsibility & Gratitude!

Events: Postings are for your information and coordination. They are not “a seal of approval” by AsAMom.org. | |
1. | Events targeting specific political figures may be approved only after review. Protests targeting non political figures may not be approved. Events promoting candidates should be limited to those that are free and open to the public featuring multiple candidates--educational. |
2. | As A Mom…does not approve of or endorse boycotts as a method of protest. We view most boycotts as ineffective at best and economically hurtful to those who work the front lines of corporations at worst. If a company does lose money due to a boycott they are more likely to fire the person in the mailroom than the CEO to cut costs. If you do not approve of a company’s stand, a letter or phone call may well have more effect than boycotting a product or service. |
3. | Fund-raisers for candidates and other groups will not be approved. |
4. | Events that require a fee may be approved only after a review of the event and only if use of funds raised is plainly posted. Classroom-type events may be approved when taught by qualified teachers or presenters |

Candidates want our vote! Moms, the candidates know who you are and they want your support. We encourage you to get out and work for the candidate of your choice... However, we are getting many requests to endorse particular candidates. Please note that under our IRS classification of 501c4, AAM cannot support or endorse any candidates. Local AAM groups may not endorse a candidate or use AAM meetings to further a candidate's or party's agenda. Meet-and-greets with multiple candidates from various parties are appropriate as long as they are free and open to the public. We do have a group for member candidates where they can discuss ideas, strategy, etc. Candidates may only campaign on their home page and in the Candidate Central forum as listed in the guide. |
